This 6500 sq. ft. fit-out women’s health facility in Carlisle, PA was a continuation of a speculative shell building project designed during the previous year. Our electrical engineer provided a very flexible original shell package that allowed a smooth transition from what was speculated in the original design to what was required by the new. In order to allow for differing temperature needs in various spaces, a terminal duct heating system was utilized. To make the system economical to operate, two key features were designed into the central system. First, economizer free cooling was included so that cooler outdoor air could be used in lieu of electric DX cooling. Second, should the DX cooling be required, two stages of capacity were scheduled, allowing energy efficient part-load conditions, matching capacity closer to loads by shutting off half of the equipment when not required.
