| Kings College Scandlon Gym Addition | |
| This 9400 Sq. Ft. Renovation/Addition converted an unused patio walkway into an exercise and weight room. “High tech” lighting will compliment the modern equipment and create an energized atmosphere in which King’s College students can exercise. The open area exercise space is being provided for specific use by the college’s athletic teams, but also made available for use by the entire student body. The space needed to be designed in a way to minimize the ability of student in a high adrenalin state to cause permanent damage to the highly exposed building systems. A fabric duct distribution system was chosen for its resilience. The only way it can be damaged is by cutting the fabric, as opposed to sheet metal, which is easily dented by tossed objects or pounding (high-five) fists. It also proved to be less expensive than a sheet metal system to install and maintain. |
