| Ridgeway Community Church - Addition & Spire | ||

When the members of Ridgeway Community Church of the Brethren received a generous bequest, they knew that their dreams for expansion and the rejuvenation of their entryway could be realized. The architects created a design that would expand the narrow, low-ceilinged foyer into a spacious gathering area where members of the congregation could socialize in a comfortable space with a touch of elegance. The church secretary and the minister would have new offices with computer friendly lighting, and the choir could robe-up and warm-up their voices in a more comfortable space without disrupting others thanks to soundproofing incorporated in the design. Part of the design included plans for a forty-foot tall freestanding spire with a four-sided framework of tubular steel bearing three crosses on each side. The use of 3-dimensional AutoCAD design and lighting calculation software resulted in an optimal placement of the fixtures to allow highlighting of the crosses without creating excess spill around the sides and above or casting too much light at the base of the spire. |
