| Lycoming Residence Hall Entry Renovations | ||||||
|
The purpose of this SSHE improvement project was to update the façade of an early 1960’s dormitory to make the entryway more appealing and to provide students with additional congregating space. The project entailed removing the existing structure that housed the entry desk & vestibule and enlarging the space to accommodate a new reception area, mailboxes and new gather/seating areas in the revitalized lobby space. An antiquated canopy at the first floor level was replaced with a more contemporary look, and new planting areas were added as part of a university wide master plan to add more green space. |

With lots of exterior walls, glass surfaces and upscale finishes, the gathering spaces called for attractive panel radiation units to warm the immediate seating areas. In addition to the aesthetic aspects, this renovation was part of continuing security and accessibility upgrades that the University is undertaking. The existing card access system was extended and integrated with the building’s elevators and new automatic doors. Additionally, a new video surveillance system was tied into the campus’ existing access control system so that campus police have the ability to see who is entering and leaving the building at all times. |
