| A sloping site offer the opportunity for this dentist to have his practice on the upper level with its entrance on one side of the building, and lease space to a completely separate practice on the lower level with its own entrance on the opposite side. This design eliminated the need for an elevator in the two-story building. Separate utility meters were provided for electricity, gas and water. The use of non-incapacitating anesthesiology for "friendly and painless" dentistry ultimately affected the design of every discipline, from the architectural construction of certain rooms to meet NFPA requirements, to emergency power concerns in the electrical design. |
